I came across a bug in WordPress 3.0 with the wonderful Redirection plugin. When you create a new post/page it will somehow add a redirect that makes the home page redirect to the new post/page.
What happens is that it creates a redirect automatically in the Modified posts group.
Just delete the redirect that has been created to “/” and it should be fine.
This solves the Redirection plugin bug, problem, issue, whatever. This only happens with newly published posts / pages. Hopefully they will fix this awesome WordPress plugin soon.
Thanks a lot for this post, I was desperately trying to find out what the issue was all about !!!
Yes this happens. And i have to manually remove it from the plugin settings. I dont know why its happening as its difficult for my clients to maintain.
I LOVE YOU,
you have save my day. Peace.

Many thanks for this post – really helpful. Any idea when a full fix will be live?
I agree Great Plugin – we redirect to Google tracking URL’s to create an excellent promotion code tool!
Just ran into this bug and was able to fix it with your help.

THANK YOU! I’m in the process of trying to convert my old site to WP and was having a horrible time trying to get this to work right!
Thanks for this tutorial!
I don’t understand why it hasn’t been fixed by the plugin updates…
I was enjoying this redirection plugin quite for some time and after a while it created a redirect for the home page to another page and I was not able to see my home page for many months at some point I disabled the plugin. But creating a redirect in hosting account cpanel is a real time killer- at least for me and I had to get back to this plugin which is so nice in many ways. But the homepage still redirected to another page of the same domain. I upgraded the plugin to the latest version Redirection V 2.5 And still the problem existed. Then after I read your post, I couldn’t figure out how I can do that. This is what I did though: I disabled Group redirection and Voila it worked. I checked if anything in my redirection links changed and they are intact. Well thanks you gave me the clue. But how come I missed the point you mentioned while others easily understood? I couldn’t find a place to put / as you said. Thanks anyway.

@Dess – You are right, probably need to emphasize that you can disable the group redirection. Thanks for commenting.
Thank You from Russia! Now my main page is working!
You Frikking Genius. I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out,
